Re: Brand new setup, compressor not sucking down

I'd guess from here that you have a valve on your can or gage set not opened-- "sucking down" is tough to decipher-- I'd say a suction pressure of "xxx" may be easier for us to understand-- it won't suck down while charging- it will actually show positive pressure of 50-60 psi un...

Re: Pressure testing a compressor

Never heard of parts of a compressor designed for 150 psi just because it is on low side-- I worked for Delphi as a product egr on compressors- all compressors burst testing we did were near 1000psi- and always blew out an o-ring-- just to let it be clear. Plus I have seen equalized gage set pressur...

Re: AC overhaul pressure problem

I worked in a vehicle test lab at Delphi- if I wanted to destroy HT-6 compressors- I would bypass the cycling switch- it only took 10 miles running at 10 psi to weld together the shoes to the axial plate and the front thrust bearings overheated due to lack of lube. Oil does not flow well at 10 psi- ...

Re: 89 S10 Compressor Cycle

The switch turns off compressor when pressure gets too LOW - and I forget which way to turn it- your gage set will tell you....

Re: 89 S10 Compressor Cycle

In a cycling system, the reason the compressor shuts off is to avert evaporator freeze-up. So the switch works off low pressure- the lower the pressure, the less heat is being removed from the cabin, therefor the more likely the evap will turn to a block of ice. and you can't blow air through ice! S...

Re: Equinox AC compressor turna off

Well, now we get more hints-- obviously the car thinks the engine is running hot-- so you need to have the engine temp sensor circuit looked at- there are sometimes two sensors, one for the dash gauge and one for the computer- so have the computer sensor checked- or just google the engine code you d...

Re: Equinox AC compressor turna off

Yes- it could be a wide air gap issue on compressor clutch- when electromagnetic coil warms resistance shoots up and is unable to magnetically pull in the armature plate--if front of compressor is accessible- you can tap on it with a wooden hammer handle and see if it snaps into action- this is afte...

Re: Equinox AC compressor turna off

Are you sure it is not just time related? as in the compressor has to cool off? Can't think of any reason disconnecting the battery will help- unless it is setting a low charge code I'm not aware of. You may want to have codes read- an a/c code will not usually set the service engine light- If it is...

Re: AC Stopped for first time in 10 years, then worked again

The ONLY way to know if system charge is correct is to extract and weigh the charge that is in your system-- case closed..
