The better DIY scanners can give you a real-time readout of what the computer thinks the engine temperature is. Before you start after being parked overnight, it should report close to what the outdoor or garage temperature was.
Or you can just try a new sensor.

Re: 65 Olds Cutlass new A/C with R134A
Why the choice of a R4 compressor? That unit really was not GM's finest hour. The V5 is a popular choice for hot rods since it is more reliable and has internal pressure control-- system does not need a POA valve or cycling at all. The "POA eliminator" system is going to suffer from annoyi...

Re: A/C Compressor locking up
Are you using R-12 or converted to R-134a? Did you use the correct type of oil for the refrigerant?

What are your pressures?
Is the "Pro Air" some sort of rear evaporator that tees into a stock front-only system?
All cars work about the same, "good" pressures are dictated by the physics of R-134a rather than the design of a particular system.

Re: 94 toyota celica AC help
If the compressor is being cycled off on evaporator temperature, there is nothing you can do under the hood to improve the vent temperature. Better refrigeration performance would just make it cycle off sooner. Air bypassing the evaporator would be a real problem. It is also possible that the heater...

Re: No Pressure after refill ?
It must have leaked out as fast as you put it in. That can happen if you pinch/cut an o-ring or forget the o-ring entirely. Did you use a vacuum pump? You have to pull a vacuum get the air out before charging. If you run a mixture of refrigerant and air, performance decreases a lot. Also, seeing if ...

Re: Illegal Repair.
The reason not to mix refrigerants is not just that it's illegal, but that it is bad science. R-134a with some R-12 mixed in it is actually harder to condense than pure 134a. So you would be better off to remove all the old refrigerant first.

Re: Saga with my 87 Chevy Truck continues
GM recommends PAG 46 for almost all their systems except those with R4 compressors. If the compressor is an R4, use PAG 150 in it. And don't look at it sideways. They aren't reliable to begin with.

Re: Electric Fan Wear
Yes you definitely have to seal around the sides so that all the air the fans pull at the back of the radiator also gets pulled thorugh the condenser. I have a 91 DX and found the stock serpentine condenser works pretty weil with 134. But since you already have a PF condenser may as well keep using ...

Re: 12 Volt Auto AC unit Custom Hookup
Hybrid cars have a large lithium ion battery that puts out high voltage for the traction motor and A/C compressor. There is also a standard 12 volt battery involved but it is only to even out the 12 volt power bus (which runs small things like the lights, radio and wipers) and to cold-start the whol...
