I see ACKits has this for $41 plus shipping.
Part #: P46-32TSI
P46-32TSI - DEC PAG - 46 (32 Ounce Bottle)
I can't tell what the brand is....
I see TCW brand around other places.
Thanks for all the help.

Re: R12 -> R134a 1989 Porsche Kit Questions
Tim,
Thanks for all the good info.
I (my wife) haven't ordered yet.
Should I get DEC PAG 45?
Does ACKits have and can sell 2 x 8 fl. oz. of DEC PAG 45?

Re: R12 -> R134a 1989 Porsche Kit Questions
After some googling and reading - it seems double end capped PAG is a bit better in regards to dealing with moisture.
I didn't know that (re. DEC, interesting) - at this point my system is going to be clean so I think I should be OK with single end capped Denso PAG.

Re: R12 -> R134a 1989 Porsche Kit Questions
Steve at Denso did not mention Double Ended Capped (DEC) PAG.
First choice was 999-0101 ND-OIL 8 which is Denso PAG 46.
Second choice was PAG 46 from Napa.
I'm assuming ND-OIL 8 (Denso PAG 46) is good enough.
Do you have a link explaining why DEC PAG is better then e.g. Denso PAG?

Re: R12 -> R134a 1989 Porsche Kit Questions
Update: I finally found a phone number for Denso America (888 963 3676). After transversing the phone tree and getting past a lady running interference on the technical line - I talked with Steve. He said Denso recommends draining out ( and even flushing ) with ND-OIL 8 (PAG 46) and filling with the...

Re: R12 -> R134a 1989 Porsche Kit Questions
For those following along. A guy from Johnsen's called back (that's a good sign in itself) and convinced me the plastic bottling was OK. He said 70% or more of the containers for ester are plastic and have been for 15-20 years. They test oil coming back from a plastic container and it meets specs. I...

Re: R12 -> R134a 1989 Porsche Kit Questions
Now I've done it. I got 32OZ of Johnsen's Ester Oil pn 6710-6 and I now realize it is in a plastic bottle with a clear bag around it. I read that ester oil absorbs water thru a plastic bottle. The date code is 12/29/2014, the stuff is something like 2.5 years old. I tried to find a number for Johnse...

Re: R12 -> R134a 1989 Porsche Kit Questions
Regarding Ester Oil. I have one can of BVA 100 Polyoester but I want another can to do a flush of my new compressor (it came with mineral oil) per the link above (thanks for that) and I'm having trouble finding BVA in CA. Maybe I should switch to another brand of Ester Oil that is easier to find out...

Re: R12 -> R134a 1989 Porsche Kit Questions
Went to Napa today. After reviewing the kits available, finally dug out the envelopes with individual sizes and was able to buy #6, #8 and #10's. The guy was busy but very nice - they cut the Sunday staff to 1. The plan is to interview another service shop on Tuesday and see if they know what a micr...
