Four Season Deslugger module 2014 Yukon Denali
The parts store said there was a recall on these vehicles due to refrigerant slugging. The fix was programming the system to cycle on and off when it first starts up. I had the "slugging" issue on our 2005 Yukon Denali with rear AC, kept breaking the AC belt but still cooled great until t...

Re: 1998 Frontier
Thanks, I have an inexpensive electronic leak detector at home. Will try that on air vents and condensate line later this month. Maybe the new valve caps sealed the leak.

Re: 1998 Frontier
OK, I bought this 1998 Frontier back in 2004 with 100K miles on it for my kids to learn to drive, and they both drove it through college then unexpectedly returned it to me. The AC has worked well in it since that 2017 pinhole in the high side line rubber part detailed in initial post in this threa...

Re: r12 replacement
Yes, R-12 is relatively expensive, even though it is plentiful as demand has been slow as older vehicles go off the roads.
Yes, R-12 is available to purchase.
I agree the easiest and maybe least expensive route is to stay R-12. My own 1988 Mazda truck is still R-12 (Arizona).

Re: 2017 Chevrolet Silverado R1234YF
Don't give up just yet. It might be something relatively simple. Check the clutch gap next. If it's too wide, the clutch won't engage and hence, no cooling. That's what Cusser alluded to when suggesting that you tap on the front of the clutch. Sometimes, that's enough for it to engage. Whether you ...

Re: 2017 Chevrolet Silverado R1234YF
I never saw the compressor clutch engage so I suspect bad compressor. Wow - I'm not an AC professional, and first thing I would've done was check to see if the compressor was engaging. I wish you had done that on yours as initial step. I actually encountered this VERY SAME situation yesterday in my...

Re: 1998 Frontier
Yesterday I had returned to Phoenix from cooler climate (which, of course is ANYWHERE !!!) and spent 2 hours maintaining my 23-year old above ground pool, which had gotten a little algae in it as I missed coming here last week due to a kidney stone (which passed Thursday afternoon). OK, I bought thi...

Re: AC blowing hot Air when parked outside on hot days
Compressor didn't engage when ever issue is there (may be 30 mins to 1 hr).yes ,ac was blinking during that period. I asked about the refrigerant level to the mechanic he told me as the pressure gauge readings are fine no issue on refrigerant level. Getting somewhere here. 1. Mechanic said pressure...

Re: AC blowing hot Air when parked outside on hot days
Is the compressor spinning when this happens? Bohica is asking if the compressor drive plate - the center part of the compressor - is spinning at the same speed as the drive belt and outer pulley of the compressor. An AC shop can extract the refrigerant and weigh it, to see if your system has leake...
