Re: AC restoration questions, '93 Mazda RX7
I believe most Mazdas of that era used Sanden compressors with a high pressure relief valve on their rear side.

Did you add pure R134a or the junk mix of R134a containing sealer?Ryan92 wrote:I recently replaced my vans AC compressor then just charged the system with about 1.5 of those recharge cans.
What is your static pressure read? If you don't know what that means, stay as far away from auto AC as you can.

Re: Compressor Short Cycles with Correct Charge
The only person I know who has a set of gauges is about an hour away. Time to obtain your own set !!! In my area, I know Autozone has free loaner AC gauge sets, had to borrow a set a few years ago because my own gauge set was 100 miles away. Even a DIY needs a correct set of gauges for a/c. https:/...

Re: Whistling or hissing type noise in AC vent when compressor clutch activates
I attempted to recharge the system. But the gauge shows 0 PSI when the car is turned on, with the AC on full blast. When the car ignition is off, the pressure gauge shows at about 40 PSI, in the green. I decided to make a dumb move, to want to fill to 50 PSI to the max where it shows in the green. ...

Re: Evaporator Switch-Themoswitch Question
When its bypassed, it gets the vents down to 35F, of course because its freezing down there. I personally would not monkey again with the expansion valve or the refrigerant charge, as great cooling occurs if the switch is bypassed or is "closed". I'd focus on the thermo switch which needs...

Re: Evaporator Switch-Themoswitch Question
Tim - I posted the following previously on his Facebook inquiry, so re-posting here so members on this site could can comment if desired. On his truck, the air path goes from inlet to blower fan through evaporator so is before the heater box. So the only source of heated air at this point getting i...

Re: Full charge after only half the freon?
About 30 ounces of R-134a does seem a little light. I think it should be around 32-38 ounces based on the R-12 spec. Did you weigh-in the charge or estimate using the small cans? If the latter, it's possible that you charged more than you thought. The pressures look pretty good now. What are the ve...
