Re: 1995 Buick Skylark evap leak?

'95 "N" car evaps aren't too bad- I've done a dozen or so. The drain pan comes down, the heater core is removed and the evap comes out, there are about 13 5.5mm screws (brass-colored) that need to be removed- most mechanics only put about 8 of them back in- thats how I tell if evap has bee...

Re: 78 Trans Am R12 System Rebuild, High Port Adaptor

The reason they say don't use high side is so you don't try to charge through it with pump running....Duh. they are playing it safe. Those threads on the port you want to use are easily recognized as metric 134a threads- the same that are on a 30 lb tank of 134a refigerant. So your new muffler is ma...

Re: 99 suburban dual air issues

Most common issue when replacing multiple parts on a dual system suburban is that the OEM orifice tube is on liquid line from condenser out to right in front of "Y" to rear system. Here is where the problem occurs-- Most all new condenser purchased will have a brand new orifice tube in the...

Re: 2007 Yukon Denali – no air flow – freezing but not low on charge?

Low side pressure switch on your accumulator is bad-- it should cycle off the compressor at about 22 psi and back on at about 28 psi or so. I am concerned of lack of oil return when you run below 10-15 psi. I used to test continuous run (stuck shut cycling switches) compressors- and the front bearin...

Re: 02 Silverado ac compressor problem

I agree- next time "clutch stops working" get out of the truck and find a way to bump the front hub (clutch) of the compressor- chances are really good it will snap in and start working. This is a sure sign of a "too wide air gap"- Fix it by removing the clutch, and removing the ...

Re: GM high side port rubber ball

Why not just put a good cap on it with a good rubber seal? The "ball" is designed to only seal long enough to attach a gage set without blowing out the charge. I test my leak detector on the uncapped port to see if it is working, then I cap it off and there is no leak found with the detect...

Re: Murray AC Compressor Questions

HPRV otherwise known as High Pressure Relief Valve. It is a safety valve to release refrigerant if indeed the HPCO High Pressure Cut-Off switch does not shut off compressor.

Oil can be put in low side just fine---every compressor shipped to assembly plants has its belly full of all system oil..
