Re: R4 questions

Flat hose block with non-stepped o-ring compressor is ok as-is. Are you saying it had a stepped port compressor with that flat hose block? That would require "pilots" or stack of washers neither of which I like to do.

Tho I'd be more concerned about kink on the discharge line.....

Re: strange cooling

06-11 is factory PF. Did a '03 CV last week the failed condenser was serpentine but the aftermarket replacement was PF. Site sponsor might be able to get you better measurements but I have is 27" x 19". Not sure if that is overall or core. If your taxi shops are anything like ours they wil...

Re: strange cooling

Those dimensions are pretty close to a stock Crown Vic condenser. The later Crown Vic is factory PF but has trans fluid cooler integrated below the condenser. Another close in size is early 90's GM full size trucks. A lot of original tube/fin condensers are now supplied by the aftermarket in PF.

Re: 2002 F-250 7.3 - hot at idle - capacity question & help wanted

Verify the recirc door is fully closing along with heater control valve operation. Vent discharge 30deg under ambient in non-recirc mode rings a bell as "normal" on most systems... which is where you are at idle. A partially open recirc door will often cool at highway speed but not slow/st...

Re: strange cooling

Gauges will tell the story on yours but have seen similar in my own "mixed parts" system. Best I can figure if high side pressure is too low (low charge or condenser "overcooled") there's not enough pressure to push enough refrigerant past the fixed oriface to properly fill the e...

Re: strange cooling

What are the pressures when it stops working?

Pusher fan can impede airflow been there done that tho usually at highway speed not 20mph. From what you describe it's tied to the clutch so will be on whenever the clutch is on regardless of speed?

Re: 1999 silverado won't cycle properly

The PCM can command the compressor clutch relay off for a bunch of reasons independent of the a/c request status. Overtemp, unable idle, low voltage, open/short in relay control ckt, etc.

Are there any current or history codes to lend a clue?

Re: New compressor. Not cooling well.

Verify recirc door is closing and temp door actuators are working to full "cold" position.

Re: AC problems, it has refrigerant and compressor works

Start with seeing if the ECM is commanding a/c clutch engagement to the TIPM. Unfortunately this is one of the ones where a real scan tool is almost mandatory because there's so many things that can inhibit operation. > the pressures even out between the low/high side. Is that normal when the compre...

Re: A/C system 100% new and not working right

Electric fans on those cars (3rd gen f-body) are barely ok at best. Was common "back in the day" to upgrade them when increasing engine performance to keep things cool. 4th gen fans were are near drop in IIRC. Dropping 100psi wetting down condenser suggests not enough airflow, with this mu...
