Re: Saga with my 87 Chevy Truck continues
Throughout the day yesterday the vent temps got warmer. It is still cooling some, but not much. Actually started cycling at idle, so I think that conversion port is leaking, even though it has a cap. Anyone know where you can get steel or brass caps for the ports?

Re: Saga with my 87 Chevy Truck continues
So replaced compressor yesterday. Flushed discharge line and got nothing and pulled OT and it was clean so I don't think I got any contamination from the compressor. New comp installed, pulled vac, and recharged. It was about 104 degrees outside, with nice monsoon humidity. With 42oz in, I had press...

Pressure setting for HPCO?
Typically what is the pressure setting for a HPCO? At what pressure should the switch open on a R134a system?

Re: 134A made in China
I saw those cans also over the weekend. They are labeled as "Assembled in USA from components originating in USA and China". Can from China and R134a from USA?

High side port would be after the condenser. It is between the condenser and evap. Condenser - port - orifice tube - evap.

Re: Saga with my 87 Chevy Truck continues
I would have put 8 oz of oil in the compressor. That is where oil is needed. 3 oz is not enough in my opinion. You probably cooked the compressor. I was following the instructions in the documentation that came with the compressor. So with a total system capacity of 8oz, all should have gone into t...

Saga with my 87 Chevy Truck continues
With unknown origins of some of the parts used in the previous owner's 134a conversion and issues I was having the last time I tried to charge it, I tore everything apart, flushed it all again, new blue orifice tube, new receiver/dryer(accumulator), and brand new H6 compressor. All lines also got ne...

Re: Running A6 without oil
Searching around the web, it appears more to be a H6 or HD6 and not an A6. Still trying to find the differences between the H and HD.

Re: Running A6 without oil
This one has no drain plug on the body. When I removed it, there was zero oil that came out. The body did get hot. I can still spin it by hand and it feels ok. It is a little tight but this may be because it was a new/rebuilt compressor.
