Re: 1969 Camaro - looking for advice

So as promised I'm jumping back in to report on my experience with the under hood kit from Classic Auto Air for a ’69 Camaro. Overall I am happy with the quality of the kit so far. There were a few cheesy aspects of it that I have just come to expect when dealing with any type of aftermarket install...

Re: 1969 Camaro - looking for advice

Was the condenser included in the Underhood Replacement kit? I would think so, but you seem to indicate that it wasn't. Either way, that's a bummer. Your old OEM style R12 condenser is available as a repro. A Google search should find a few vendors. However, many folks rebuild their systems for R13...

Re: 1969 Camaro - looking for advice

The '69 Camaro under hood a/c kit arrived yesterday from Classic Auto Air. I did a quick look over of everything and my initial impression is that it is of acceptable quality. I was surprised at how small the condenser is but as long as it blows cold I guess smaller doesn't matter. I'll report back ...

Re: 1969 Camaro - looking for advice

I'm in the process of getting the factory a/c system going on a '69 Camaro as well. The first thing I would decide is how important is keeping the original components. If you're not worried about that then I would seiously consider going with some level of update to your system. After a minimal amou...

Re: 2004 Stratus

The 15 oz. charge seemed a bit low to me too but after three sources said the same thing I went with it. The compressor did not cycle. My guess was there was an issue with the compressor but I didn't get a chance to do a lot of troubleshooting before the car had to leave for a while. I figured I wou...

Re: 2004 Stratus

Thanks for the reply. I pulled it out with an a/c machine so that's how I knew how much was in there. I recharged it with the factory recommended 15 ounces with the same a/c machine. It appears to have a small leak somewhere but with a full charge in the system it still was not producing reasonable ...

2004 Stratus

I'm looking for ideas on a 2004 Dodge Stratus. The system was a bit low so I charged it with 15 oz. of freon. At idle the vent air was warm with pressures at 90/145. At 2,000 rpm the vent air temp would drop slightly with pressures moving to 75/175. When the system was shut off the pressures were ve...

Re: POA valve testing

Thanks for the reply. I got the test set-up procedure from this site and that was the way I tested my valve. Once the valve initially cracks at 30 psi should the gauge reading stay steady as I continue to open the valve? My valve does not appear to be ruptured because it holds pressure solid until i...

POA valve testing

I had a question about the testing of a '69 Camaro POA valve. I successfully set up a similar valve for a '70 C10 truck to run R134 a couple years ago but I don't remember exactly how it acted when I was running the test on it. It seems as though the valve isn't fully opening after it cracks around ...
