fredm54 on Tue May 21, 2013 7:59 PM User is offline

Year: 2001
Make: Ford
Model: Explorer Sport Trac
Engine Size: 6 cyl
Refrigerant Type: R134a
Ambient Temp: 80
Pressure Low: 30
Pressure High: 115
Country of Origin: United States

First time here! I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac with R134a. I know it's low as the compressor is cycling on and off. I confirmed the low switch on the dryer is opening and closing. I borrowed a set of gauges and measured: 20-40 on the Low side and 110-120 on the high side (the 2 numbers represent the cycling of the compressor) What numbers should I look for? The ambient temp is about 80 f.

thanks!

Fred

Your pressures indicate a leak from the info posted. I would check for leaks, repair the issues and evacuate and recharge to OEM specs.
