How much PAG oil in rebuilt V5?

Chriskc on Wed May 08, 2013 6:02 PM User is offline

Year: 1997
Make: Chevrolet
Model: Lumina
Engine Size: 3.1
Refrigerant Type: R134a

Will be rebuilding my leaky seal V5 in the next week or so and was wondering how much Pag 150 do I put in the compressor?
Whats the best way to put it in? I have read through the suction port.
I drained out just over half an ounce.

Also I got the Nylog Blue and was wondering where are all the places this should be applied?
thanks!

PAG 150....3-4 oz added thru the drain port in the case. DO NOT ADD TO THE SUCTION PORT. V5 have a specific lubricant procedure. Add remainder of system specification to the new accumulator.
Insure that the system is totally and properly recharged utilizing the correct equipment. Do not attempt to recharge with cans and utilizing pressures. Use the correct equipment. Failure to properly recharge will result premature compressor failure.
Good luck

Search for a 15/16 mm bolt on the side of the case. Remove this bolt and add lubricant into this section of the compressor. The design of the compressor prevents oil added to the 'suction' port to properly drain into the case/gut pack of the unit. The primary failure of the V is the Guide Rod Bearing. The guide rod maintains swash plate/bearing alignment and is a high stress area of the compressor.
