Chevrolet 2.2L A/C system oil capacity

atenSpro on Sun February 01, 2015 6:12 PM User is offline

I'm wondering if anyone here can tell me how much oil any compressor - A/C system a Chevrolet with a 2.2L motor takes. I asked earlier about my car but I guess no one reading this has one of those. I'm thinking other 2.2L cars might have the same setup as mine. Thanks

Size of the engine isn't a factor, it's the model of the compressor and the type of system (TXV vs CCOT) that should match up when you look at similar models.

Yeah, I understand that it's not much of a factor. But I was hoping to get a better answer that told me the capacity and the make and model of their car so I could then look up to see if their setup was the same as mine. Right now I have no idea what the capacity of my system is. This question was me just trying to get a place to start.

Could you list the vehicle? It may help up answer your question.

Thanks, the vendor I bought the compressor and dryer from sent me 8 ounces of PAG 46 with no instructions. I was thinking maybe it took all 8. I saw where some people were using all 8 ounces but just wanted to know the spec....Thanks again....BTW where did you find the spec for that?

Couple sources.

Compressor Mfg: 6 ounces.

Mitchell OnDemand: 5 ounces.

I would go with 6 ounces. This is the total amount if the system has no oil in form previous compressor. Accumulator/Drier must also be replaced.
