The hiss is ONLY upon start up- then dissappears- even for a long 2 hr trip.

This is why GM put their expansion device out by the condenser on their C/K trucks-- for people like you who notice hisses inside the cabin and complain- only under warranty do people complain- after warranty expires they tell you it is okay...

Your TXV is causing your pain...go get 'em to fix it-- make them sit in a like vehicle- that does not do it-- then tell them to make yours like that one--the new car sales lot is full of examples!

I spent many years defending the GM products design- good to see someone go after the competition...

The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......

Hmmmm, so, GM, Im confused- you make it sound like Im just a complainer for a normal sound, but then say get them to fix the problem. So far, Im not complaining- just inquiring here about it.

If they fix it, what needs to be done (simply pop in a new TXV?)? Why does the valve do that? And why only at start up?
Thanks.
