AC Diagnosis

ettruck on Thu August 02, 2012 9:52 PM User is offline

Year: 1998
Make: nissan
Model: pathfinder
Engine Size: v6
Refrigerant Type: r134
Pressure Low: 40
Country of Origin: United States

98 Nissan Pathfinder V6

No cold air for past couple of days. Noticed the cold air slowly going away over past week and as of yesterday nothing but hot air.

Here is my checklist:
-blower speeds work fine
-fuses seem to be in good shape
-compressor clutch engages
-compressor seems to work fine. Belt turns and when ac engaged you can notice difference in idle rpm as though its working normal
-added R134 several months back and PSI on both lines still seem to be within normal range
-low ac line is hot to touch (no cooling what so ever)
-no overheating issues with truck at all
-hoses and lines in good condition, no leaks

Any ideas or other areas I should check? Everything seems to be in good working order except for the fact that I have zero cold air.
Thanks.

This is your clue. If you needed to add refrigerant "several months" back, then you needed that because you had a leak. So you still have that leak. Find it, fix it, do it right.

Don't even THINK about adding a sealer, you'll ruin the entire system. You've been warned.
