Use the same gauge for r12 and 134a?

beckweed on Sun May 20, 2012 3:20 PM User is offline

Hi there,
I purchased a kit from ackits about 4 years ago to replace the AC in my new beetle (134a). Now my husband wants to use the Master Cool vacuum pump and gauges on his 1982 911 that uses r12. Am I correct that he can't use the same gauge we used with 134a b/c this would cause cross contamination?
Thank you.

Pressure is pressure. As long as you have the correct connections the gauge set will work fine.

Thank you. It is good to know we don't have to buy a separate gauge for his 12r project.

I've got the opposite: I have R-12 gauge set (still use on my 1988 truck) with adapter hoses for R134a use.
