2010 Ford Escape too high pressure

Jim Bojan on Sun May 20, 2012 2:33 PM User is offline

Year: 2010
Make: Ford
Model: Escape
Engine Size: V6
Refrigerant Type: 134a
Ambient Temp: 90
Pressure Low: 40
Pressure High: 425
Country of Origin: United States

A/C works intermittently. Yesterday I put a set of gauges on to see if I was low on refrigerant for some reason. Compressor was cycling on and off and the vents were putting out cold air. The low pressure was ranging between 38 and 45 psi, high pressure was steady at 425 psi. Today, cold air on the way to church, ambient air on the way home. So much for the power of prayer.

Is this a clogged line someplace? Is a flush likely to help, or does something need replaced?

Thanks for any help.

For starters you need to know the refrigerant level. Also make sure the cooling system is working correctly. Check that the condenser is not plugged up with debris.
