compressor specs, old vs. new

I'm looking for information that I could use to compare the cooling ability of early 'add-on' auto A/C systems to later systems and applications.
Such as: Specs on early York and Tecumpse compressors - HP required, cc/rev, efficiency, weight, etc. (however compressors are rated.)
Comparative performance of succeeding generations: smaller piston type , Swashplate type, scroll, etc.
Calculations of cooling required, such as solar radiation levels, R values of sheetmetal, U values of glass, etc
The time period I'm looking at is from 1948 to 1980. Any ideas, information, leads would be appreciated.
