White Chalky Powder in Evaporator

4.0_olds on Sun July 18, 2010 6:49 PM User is offline

Year: 2001
Make: Carraro
Model: TRX-6400
Refrigerant Type: 134a
Country of Origin: Italy

Just general precautions for reviving the A/C that hasn't been working in years on my newly purchased used farm tractor. This weekend I completed a flush of the system. Everything seemed pretty clean except a lot of oil came out of the evaporator. Also in the evaporator, which came out in the first flush was a lot of white chalky powder that reminded me of drywall dust. It clung to my fingers and dried almost instantly. I flushed a few more times and never saw it again.

Could this be a sealer?

Thanks for all of your help, you guys are great!!

I don't think so. Was the system open for a while?

I'm guessing no. I believe I am the first to open the system. The clutch bearing froze up a few years ago and they took the belt off.
