2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee No Cold Air

genxeration on Wed June 16, 2010 12:25 AM User is offline

Year: 2000
Make: Jeep
Model: Grand Cherokee
Engine Size: 4.0
Refrigerant Type: R134a
Pressure Low: 40
Country of Origin: United States

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 4.0 engine. My AC will only blow warm air (temperature from outside). I have no cold air at all. The compressor is short cycling as if the refrigerant is low but but the R134a pressure is 40 psi on the low side. I have two connections going from the ac compressor through the firewall. One is almost freezing and the other is very warm to the touch. I have checked the fuses and relay for the clutch. I have also check the blend door and motor and found no problems. Any ideas??

Sounds like you have a leak, one gauge doesn't tell you anything, you need both pressures..
Don't try adding refrigerant without both gauges, you need to find the leak, fix it, evacuate the system and recharge the factory amount back in...
