Best way to separate case sections on V5 Compressor (trying to replace V5 case orings)

Make: Buick
Model: Century
Engine Size: 3.1a V6
Refrigerant Type: R134a

I have a V5 Compressor and would like to replace the two large case orings (also called case "belly" rings).
I have removed the shaft seal, hub/pulley, coil and front bolts. It appears the V5 Compressor has a front half
(head) and a rear half..and a center section (case)...the front and rear parts slide over the center section.
.
I have read that corrosion can get into the area where these front/rear sections slide over the middle
case section...
.
I have put the compressor in a vice and tried to gently twist and pull the front section off the case...
but no luck...

should i use a hammer and tap the front section to remove...or maybe tap the front section so that
it spins/moves a bit?

Any tips/advice for trying to separate the case sections on a V5 Compressor...

I asked a year ago,since then i got a v5/HT6 holding tool you clamp in the vise then the pump to it,works slick,gota be careful not to distort the case,there tough but will come out.

Use a twisting motion with a vice grip chain grip wrapped around the cylinder- it will come apart. Don't pound on shaft - you'll break the front thrust washer- is is hardened and will shatter easily-- been there done that....

The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......
