Newbie to AC Compressor Replacemnet

nighthawk4603 on Sat June 12, 2010 6:49 PM User is offline

Year: 1994
Make: honda
Model: accord
Engine Size: 2.2 litr
Refrigerant Type: r134a
Country of Origin: United States

I have never gone beyond topping off Freon on my vehicles, but I gather from the post that compressor replacement repairs are in $800- $1000 range,so now is the time to consider. The 94 accord a/c was working fine one day the next it appears the comp locked up. I assume that as there was melted plastic around the clutch. - If the compressor locked up then there must be debris floating around in the lines?

I know I need a :
compressor
receiver dryer
??orifice tube?? honda has an expansion valve?
?? any other seals that need to be replaced?

The system must be flushed
Can I use rubbing alcohol and compressed air and blow it through the components first from one direction and then the other repeating until all is clean? What else will work outside of buying a professional flush system.

What is the probability that I will have a successful working system
