Cap size???

Ted on Wed May 26, 2010 12:16 PM User is offline

Year: 99
Make: Toyota
Model: Avalon
Engine Size: 3.0
Refrigerant Type: 134a
Country of Origin: United States

Can anyone give the size, Toyota P/N, or any supplier's P/N for the low side service port cap for a Toyota Avalon? The '99 is the same as my '03 Avalon, but Toyota parts dept. can't find it in their system, and apparently there are at least two different sizes in use. Looking to replace a lost cap.

Thanks in advance...........

The easiest thing for finding a cap is to be to go to an auto parts store and buy a package that has an assortment or if they have individual one's, see if they will let you try them first. Does your car have just the standard Red and Blue caps or are they light blue or even black? This is your standard low side cap, Low Side Cap.

The high and low caps were both grey.

I was in the local NAPA warehouse store for other parts, and asked about it. The guy gave me one to try, but it didn't fit.

I do know it's not the same size as the low port cap in my wife's '02 Odyssey.

foreign cars use the light gray caps, and "usually" will have an "H" or "L" on top, the larger is for the high side and smaller for the low side, if your parts guy can't help you, stop at a wrecking yard and ask for one.. Some Chryslers use them also, but one from just about any Toyota will work...

Thanks, Chick. Good to see you're still hangin' out here and helping. The tip that most Toys use the same will let me get it. Of course, I don't regularly visit auto recycling yards like you, so I'll risk 50 cents and try ordering a Toyota P/N I dug up.
