AC pressure relief valve

Year: 2003
Make: Ford Mustang
Model: Mach1
Engine Size: 4.6

My mustang started making an intermittent hissing sound recently. It only happens when AC is on and only does it while driving, not while just idling. The best i can tell is that it is the pressure relief valve making the noise. It happens immediately when the AC is switched on while driving, last about 2-3 seconds, and blows about every 3-5 minutes after that while driving. AC is still blowing cold and working fine at this point. I don't run it much due to its really annoying and don't want to cause any damage to AC system. Can anyone give cause/solution?

If the pressure relief valve is opening you have a pressure issue. Be it over charged, air in the system, restriction or fans not working correctly. Need to get some gauges on it and find out what your pressures are for starters.
