Reciever drier question?

Daryn67 on Wed May 26, 2010 7:02 AM User is offline

Year: 1999
Make: Toyota
Model: Tacoma
Engine Size: 2.7L 4cy
Refrigerant Type: R134a
Country of Origin: United States

I finally got around to doing my AC in my Toyota truck, new compressor, receiver drier, TXV, etc.. Everything went OK, and A/C works well... But there is a small leak in the evaporator. New parts already on order (I'm getting new mounting hardware for TXV as well), so everything in the cooling unit will be new... When I do the repair, it will probably take less than 1/2 an hour, and I have rubber plugs for the high and low pipes when disconnected... DO YOU THINK I SHOULD REPLACE THE receiver DRIER AGAIN AFTER THIS SERVICE, OR IS THAT BEING OVERKILL? it has just a few days of use on it. (and yes, I am having a local shop do the discharge of the refrigerant before I service it...).

Also, is there anything I should use to clean out the ventilation system to remove traces of R134a, or after the repair is complete, will refrigerant traces just dissipate quickly?

Thanks, Daryn.

In your case I think you'd be fine without changing the receiver-drier.
