1996 Mazda Miata MX5 Specs

k5guy on Tue April 06, 2010 6:40 PM User is offline

Year: 1996
Make: Mazda
Model: Miata MX5 M series
Engine Size: 1.8
Refrigerant Type: R134a
Ambient Temp: 90
Pressure Low: 30
Pressure High: 200

I recently bought a classic 1996 Miata convertible. Ok, it was a cherry. 2 owners, garage kept, 93K original miles, and a price I couldn't ignore. Today was the first day that it was hot enough to run the AC. It was blowing cool, but not cold (maybe 10-15F lower than ambient.) Putting some gauges on it, it was low on gas, so I added a can of R134a with dye. It is now running well. I was hoping someone would post info on this AC system (factory) for future reference.

At first the high side was about 150, and low was 25. I bought the high up with more R134a so its now pulling 200 at 90F ambient. (90 * 2.2 = 198). Road tested it and its now cold.

Thanks!
