Miata compressor not working

jdw1529 on Wed March 31, 2010 10:58 AM User is offline

Year: 2001
Make: Mazda
Model: Miata
Country of Origin: United States

I have a 2001 Miata that is blowing warm air only. The compressor doesn't seem to be coming on at all. There is no change to the rpm when the a/c switch is engaged. The second fan is not coming on either. I've checked the main fuses but they are fine. What would be a good diagnosis starting point given this issue?

Thanks for any help.

John

Sounds like the refrigerant is too low for the compressor to engage. Pressure readings would really help us out here as to diagnosing what might be the problem.

I agree. A set of gauges and a pressure reading while the engine is running and AC switch is on will help. Otherwise, we are just guessing.
