Compressor orientation?

Is it possible to mount a compressor rotated 90 degrees from how it would normally be mounted? Typically the inlet/outlet are on 'top'. I'm thinking of using one of the aftermarket compressors (Sanden) to replace my OEM Nippondenso. It would be much easier to get the hoses to mate up if the Sanden were rotated 90 degrees CW and it appears the mount ears would allow this.

That would be fine just don't go past a sideways orientation. Fittings cannot be placed in a downward position.
