Honda Civic fan switch

slvrsdn on Sun August 30, 2009 12:09 PM User is offline

Year: 2006
Make: Honda
Model: Civic
Engine Size: 1.8L
Refrigerant Type: ?

Bought a used 2006 Honda Civic EX sedan and when the a/c stopped working soon after, I returned it to the lot I purchased it from, they said a switch in the dash was bad and the ordered the pert from Honda. They "bypassed" this switch for it to work in the mean time. Now it works great for about 30-45 minutes of driving until the blower fluxuates up and down and then seems to stop all together, but its weird because I can still hear the blower motor running pretty fast and the a/c lines under the hood are coated with frost.

Any advice?

It's freezing up. The evaporator core (which cools the air inside the car) gets covered with ice and blocks the air flow. If there's a way to turn it off, turn the compressor off but leave the fan on for several minutes until it thaws out.

Should work OK when you get the new control panel in. Good thing you have a warranty because I think the panel is kind of expensive.
