Oil and 134a Amounts Needed

Don M on Thu July 30, 2009 7:59 PM User is offline

Year: 1989
Make: Ford
Model: Bronco
Engine Size: V8
Refrigerant Type: 134a
Ambient Temp: 90
Pressure Low: na
Pressure High: na
Country of Origin: United States

Can someone please tell me how much oil and 134a is needed to recharge this system. I have flushed the system, replaced a hose that had split, accumulator, and o-tube. I have removed the compressor and drained any remaining oil.

Thanks,
Don

8 ounces of a good quality ester oil like BVA auto 100 and charge about 75% of the R12 amount, then tweak it slowly until the inlet and outlet of the evaporator are the same temp, the outlet being slightly colder and you should be done.. But make sure your fan clutch is in good shape and try to keep the high side around 2.5 times the ambient temp or lower..
