Oil Amount

Hello, I read some where on this site that you add 3.5oz of oil per 1lb. of 134a. This is if you flush the entire system. That would get you pretty close to the proper amount of oil.
I was wondering if this was a good rule of thumb for r-12 also. I replaced the compressor, accumulator, all the O rings, and done a complete flush. On my 93 olds. cutlas cierra with r-12.
The label called for 2.75lbs of r-12, but did not say how much oil. I put in 8oz. Is this close to the right amount?
