condenser fan temp sensor does not work

Make: alfa romeo
Model: veloce
Refrigerant Type: R12

Hi Guys,

I was removing the temp sensor on my car for radiator work when it accidentally grounded and ZAP.....blew the fuse, so I replaced fuse, and it still does not work. I cant confirm if it even worked BEFORE the zap, either way, it does not switch on to turn on fan when I put a hair dryer on it.

I verified the fan runs by jumping the wires at the relay. Then, I put a ohmmeter on it, first hot then cold, and got a 1 on the meter (infinity?).

What do yous think is wrong? If bad, is there a source for a universal one I could solder on the 2 hot wires to? Bad relay possibility?

Thanks!!

Really not fasmiliar with that car, but maybe a dealer can replace it, I imagine it goes in the fan shroud, kinda like the newer cars like the ford escape?? maybe post a pic for those who know those cars would help...

Thanks, Chick. Sorry for the delay. Got it to work finally. I was not applying enough heat with hair dryer to trigger it. .Then tried a lighter flame, gently.
