Not cooling well

mhfd112 on Sat June 06, 2009 6:24 AM User is offline

Year: 1997
Make: Dodge
Model: 3500
Engine Size: 5.9

A buddy asked me about this truck the other day. He has had it for about seven years and not had any real trouble with the ac. He says it just never has cooled real well. It seems to cool ok at idle. At highway speeds it doesn't cool as well. I checked the pressures several years ago and they were fine. Don't remember what they were.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Don't know if it matters, but this truck is a diesel.

Thanks

After all these years I would check the refrigerant level, could be low by now.. Also the clutch gap to make sure it's not disengaging at highway speeds..

Thanks.

Should the gap be .025 to .035?

He just told me that the clutch had to be replace last year.

try to keep the gap around .02.. As long as it doesn't scrape the pully when off..
