Bad Clutch Coil?

tony1963 on Sat May 30, 2009 5:14 PM User is offline

Year: 2001
Make: Volkswagen
Model: Jetta
Engine Size: 1.9 TDI
Refrigerant Type: R134a
Country of Origin: United States

Greetings,

I have a replacement AC compressor for a 2001 VW Jetta TDI. The old one was weak.

The new compressor will not engage. I checked for continuity across the 2-pin male connector at the compressor (not engine wiring harness) and there is no continuity.

That's a diagnosis for a bad coil, correct?

Check your ohm meter with another coil to be sure, but it looks like a bad coil...

I checked the old compressor which worked, but wouldn't pull down the low side or give much high side pressure. It has continuity and engages, but is otherwise shot.

First time that I have ever had a bad coil on a reman compressor.
