Low Side goes vacuum at HOT weather

Texas_Mark on Tue May 26, 2009 4:35 PM User is offline

Year: 1994
Make: Toyota
Model: Camry
Engine Size: 2.2
Refrigerant Type: R134a
Ambient Temp: 80
Pressure Low: 30
Pressure High: 210
Country of Origin: United States

It works fine in the morning, but quit working when weather reaches above 90F and low side reads negative with clutch is still engaged. Compressor was replaced 2 years ago it has been working until now. If wonder if moisture is the cause, why hot weather doesn't stop icing? or, the air got into it? can it be fixed by purging and recharging the system? Please help.

I would change the drier and expansion valve, pull a deep vacuum and recharge, be sure to add an ounce or two of oil back to the system..Hiope this helps..
