Remove Evaporator cover?

PDA1 on Fri May 22, 2009 9:13 AM User is offline

Year: 96
Make: Ford
Model: Explorer
Engine Size: 4.0
Refrigerant Type: 134a

I want to get to the evaporator to clean it (only the exterior of it).

I want full access to both sides of the evaporator.

Can I do it without remove the a/c lines and opening the system?

Why do you want to clean the evaporator? If it is mounted to the firewall you may be able to remove the cover and clean it, sometimes there is a hidden bolt holding the cover from inside under the passenger seat. If you get the cover off blow compressed air through it. I'm not an expert but I have done this on a few cars/trucks. Hope this helps.
