when using a red orifice tube on a conversion do you still charge 80% of r-12 sticker capacity?

There is no set guide as to how much, but your truck was just about ready to go with R134a, so 80% to start is fine, when you reach that amount (Watch high side though) charge until the inlet and outlet of the evap are the same temp, the outlet can be slightly cooler, then you're done.. Hope this helps..
