receiver drier

deanno on Wed April 29, 2009 12:24 PM User is offline

Year: 94
Make: mitsibushi
Model: pajero/montero
Engine Size: 2.5td
Refrigerant Type: r12
Country of Origin: United Kingdom

I had the compressor of to fix the clutch which now works fine, thanks to help i received from this site. The gas was r12 but i will be using R134a and have been told to change the receiver drier unit. Is it possible to use a unit from a different car etc as i have been quoted around the £100 ($150) mark. Is it worth changing the o rings etc in the compressor while its of as well.

Does your drier look like THIS ONE?

The 1994 Montero here in the US was gasoline only, so I have no reference data on the dismal. It sure seems like the UK gets raped on MVAC parts from the many posts made here.

I guess you have no choice about converting to 134a in the UK. Make sure the condensor fan(s) are working well, and expect some reduction in performance. Flush out all of the old oil, and change the O rings to 134a compatible elastomers.

It does look like that one. I'm even having trouble sourcing a repair kit for the compressor over here as well.
