Orifice Tube Color

Year: 1985
Make: Ford
Model: F150
Engine Size: 5.0
Refrigerant Type: R-12
Country of Origin: United States

First post here, just been lurking and learning a lot on this site. Had a little fire in my a/c heater box under the hood of my F150. Ford designed these trucks to catch fire as the fan sucks leaves and debris into the box which accumulate around the fan motor resistor that glows red when the motor is in any speed other than high. Conditions are ideal to catch the leaves on fire and destroys the plastic heater box. Fortunately, the truck did not burn down and I am in the process of replacing the plastic box with a junk yard one. The system has now leaked down and I will be replacing the evaporator core and all o-rings and will be re-charging it with R-12 since it worked for 24 years and cooled very good.

My question is regarding the color of the orifice tube I need to use. I see two colors listed (Black and Blue) and need to know which one to use with the R-12.

I appreciate any help and/or advice and am sure I will have other questions as I get into it.
