Refrigerant Type: R12
Country of Origin: United States
I have four 12oz cans of Dupont R12 with a threaded nipple on the top like the new 134 cans. In the past I've only used cans with the dome top along with my short connection hose. I'm at my wits end trying to figure out how I can use these cans. The thread size is just a little smaller than the 134 cans so I can't rig something up to use one of those. I don't want to invest in gauges and the whole 9 yards. I just want to add a can to my car when needed. Anyone remember if they made just the short connector hose like the ones used on the usual R12 cans? Anyone have one? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Those cans may have been used for air horns for watercraft.
Well, I've been keeping this 89 Buick going for the last 7 years by adding a can every other year or so and putting a little oil in the hose first. The car could go to the junk yard anytime and living in the northeast I only need air conditioning 3 months out of the year. Since I have the R12 cans I'd just like to figure out a way to use them without spending a lot of money. Thanks Chick for the tip on the side can tap. I never heard of it. I looked up a picture of one. I'm wondering if the hose I've been using will attach to it?
you can use a standard hose but need to have a depresser on both ends.
