Jeep Comanche air install

Gjeepm on Tue January 20, 2009 4:13 PM User is offline

Year: 1989
Make: Jeep
Model: Comanche
Engine Size: 4.0L
Country of Origin: United States

I've got a 89 Jeep Comanche project truck. The truck didn't come with AC originally but I sourced a complete factory Mopar AC kit for that year/ model. As is, this would be an R12 install but I want to convert it to R134 while installing it.

In addition to getting the high/ low fitting adapters for 134, I'm guessing I should seal all threading with the HFC sealer you sell. As for o-rings will the R12 ones work? Or are o-rings specific to FC application. Finally, the compressor oil I need to replace...but I don't remember with what type?

Is there any other items that need to be address in the R-12 kit to make the R-134 conversion successful? I'm going to let a professional shop charge the system...I just want to get all the pieces in place. Thanks!

Barrier hoses would be suggested along with a parallel flow condenser. R134a adapters and HPCO switch are required. POE oil like the BVA Auto 100 is what I suggest.

Thanks. The kit supplied a factory parallel flow condenser. As for the hoses, are you saying that R12 barrier hoses are different from the composition of R134 hoses?

If the hose has a plastic inner sleeve its of barrier design. If not I would replace the hose with barrier hose or use R12.

Thanks...Can ACkits make the necessary barrier hoses w/ fittings for my truck? What would you need/ who should I call?

If you send us the old hose sets we can rebuild them using barrier hose.

Jack or Rob would be able to assist you with this request.
