Reusing an evaporator

I just recently bought this truck from a friend of a friend and found that the a/c hoses were cut and have been sitting like that for years. I now have the heater core and evaporator out for heater core replacement. I would like to get the a/c working again, is it worth pressure testing and cleaning evaporator for reuse or would it be best to replace. Just dont want to put it back together again and find out it doesnt work.

It all depends on its condition. You can inspect, flush, and vacuum test; if all is good then it could be reused.

But you are already there and I am sure you do not want to tear all this out again.

If this is the right one

If a new one is readily available, you should replace it since it's already out of the truck. The effort to clean up the old one and then hope that it doesn't leak isn't worth it.
