Replacement for SUNISO 5GS - Calsonic V-5 compressor for Nissan

hype on Wed November 26, 2008 3:25 AM User is offline

Year: 1993
Make: Nissan
Model: 240SX
Engine Size: 2.4
Refrigerant Type: R12
Country of Origin: United States

Searched; didnt find anything. A/C worked great in my last 240, but this one is a different story. Compressor kicks in, bubbles show in the sight glass but nothing but warm air. As I have the engine out of the car, I'm going to do a complete service of the A/C system. I've got a new drier and o-rings, but I'm at a loss as to what oil to use. Factory service manual calls for SUNISO 5GS and about 8mL of that. Any insight? Thanks.

This should be the oil you need for R-12

Mineral Oil

Although it does make me question; is it the right viscosity?

That is the stuff I've used for mucho years for R12 systems

Thanks for the replies. Wouldn't different compressors have different requirements as far as viscosity is concerned?

Yes, most will use the 525 mineral oil viscosity, but there are some cases of a 300 viscosity recommendation.

I found the Suniso 5gs to be listed as 500/550 viscosity. The mineral oil previously listed is what you need.
