I bought and installed an AMA 11037-8017 a/c kit for my 1994 Jeep Wrangler in 1999. I'm finishing up grad school and have a lot less time to do my own vehicle work now, so reluctantly, I paid a local auto shop to track down an annoying rattle that sounded like it was coming from inside the heater box (passenger side, on firewall). To remove the heater box, the mechanic decided to discarge the a/c system and remove the blower/duct/evaporator assembly from the cab to access the heater box. (Had I known he would do this, I would've just lived with the rattle and turned the radio up louder.) The mechanic stated he could not remove the low side line from the evaporator, so he removed it from the compressor. In the process he snapped off approximately 1/8" of the end of the aluminum fitting inside the steel nut on the hose fitting - effectively ruining both the hose and compressor. The hose fitting on the compressor is integral with the casing, so I am purchasing a new compressor (AMA 103-55121) to replace the (was functioning perfectly) old one.
I can't recall if I used anti-seize, or what type, on the low side line connection to the compressor. Is it possible, if I used an anti-seize containing aluminum, that it effectively glued the threads in place? I know copper-only anti-seize is recommended for aluminum threads, but I don't have enough experience to know how critical it is.
The mechanic wants to attempt an "in-place" hose repair of the low side line, to replace the compressor end fitting with a new one. Anyone have any experience with this?
Once the old compressor (old AMA 488-45121 - now p/n is AMA 103-55121) is removed, is a repair (casing section replacement) possible? Can anyone recommend a source for this type of repair work? It might be nice to have a functioning spare - or I'll just mount it on my garage wall as a reminder....

I new head plate can be installed. Only issue which could arise is if it's so old that we no longer have that design in our head plate stock. They change flow patterns over the years. But I doubt it will be an issue.
Like Tim & Chick said need to know more info or an old invoice number can help as well as some pictures, part numbers of what you have. As fore what to use for the new install, Nylog Blue is what we use in our shop for all types of repairs and complete installs. Hope this helps and good luckÃ¢ÂÂ¦.
