R-12 65500 Mastercool Compressor Question

johnboy123 on Fri October 03, 2008 11:25 AM User is offlineView users profile

Hello...I've obtained a series 65500 Mastercool Recovery/Recycle/Flush system. Has a oil-filled compressor that was dedicated for R-12. Would like to "reset" it for R-134a. Figure i'll have to replace the r-12 fittings on the exterior for the new ones.

1. Change the compressor?
2. Does anyone make a crimper that can make the manifold size hoses to replace the inner connecting hoses. (they're rough looking)
3. Do they sell bulk red, blue, yellow lines for this?

Sorry for the battery of questions...thought this would be easier that 3 or 4 new topics at once.
Thanks in advance!
john

Well, there are probably more experienced people here than I, but I'll tell you what I did.
I used charging hoses from cheap can adapters and spliced them into the original hoses using brass splicer adapters so I could connect to the 134 fittings. The compressor in my system was oilless, so that wasn't a factor but I don't think it would matter for you either since the oil from the compressor should not get into the lines if it's working right. If the system has a filter/dryer in it, you may need a different one for 134.

Good idea, I'll try that
