Basic about Afetrmarket A/C

Year: 1988
Make: Chev
Model: Full Size Pickup
Engine Size: 305

I have an 88 Chevy pick up 2 door no a/c. Is their a kit anywhere they I can install without tearing the dash apart? Vintage Air makes a universal a/c for under the dash but it is too big. I have run out of ideas and don't want to buy bone yard parts and have to go thru removing all of the existing heater and ducts. There may be no choice. What do you all think?

I am new, this is my first post. Thank you.

This may work for you but I'll need to double check. This system is designed if the vehicle did not have the vent system. Do you have 2 or 4 vents across the dash?

The truck has only two vents in the dash and that was a replacement part. There are no connections to ducts. The truck is a Cheyenne and only came with a heater and defroster. This system might do the trick if it is small enough to go under the dash and not hit the existing heater housing.

It is interesting that in 1988 Chevy changed body styles quite radically and the aftermarket industry never followed. 1987 is the last big year for aftermarket custom parts.
I wonder if any other 1988 owners have any further suggestions.

Thank you for the help.

If the truck only has the outside vent that link will work. Reason many did not mess with a/c on this truck is GM failed to provide the duct system when they came w/o a/c. There were a few kits available but they did not work well and thus we just designed an under dash setup.

I hope I haven't confused you or the issue. The only vents on this old dog are those that come through the firewall or kick panel area. There is no venting thru any part of the dash. The vents are accessed by pulling slides next to and below the steering column.

I hope this set up will work.
