How much oil in acc/dryer

joeld on Mon August 11, 2008 10:34 PM User is offlineView users profile

Year: 1987
Make: Olds
Model: Delta
Engine Size: 3.8
Refrigerant Type: R12

I need to replace all O-rings and orifice tube in the system. Car has a small leak, so I would just rather replace all. Approx how much oil should I add to the acc/dryer when I install new one.

Thanks,
Joel

Good method for this is to drill a 1/4 hole in the bottom of the old accumulator/Drier and let is drain in a measuring cup. Add that amount back plus 3/4 of an ounce since you have a leak. If the leak was large add a little more.

Thanks for the reply. This is what I was going to do, just wanted to be sure this would allow proper amount of oil to drain out.
