LOW High Side Pressure

TullyMars on Mon August 04, 2008 9:35 PM User is offline

Year: 94
Make: Jeep
Model: Grand Cherokee
Engine Size: 5.2
Refrigerant Type: V8
Ambient Temp: 75
Pressure Low: 40
Pressure High: 45
Country of Origin: Mexico

Last year I had the system serviced. Had them Put in a new Condenser and Dryer/Receiver. Thank you Arizona. Mobile Air for the parts.
Full Evac. Leak Test.. Full Charge.

The previous professional analysis was "leaking condenser".

Anyway, It worked fine for about six months. Then...spring time and nothing but warm air.

I finally decided to get a decent set of gauges and here is what I have.

The Compressor clutch does not cycle. When I jumper the switch I get the 45 PSI high side reading posted above.

Is my compressor done? dead? Kaput? or are there other possible scenarios?

Probably another leak. Need to recover, vacuum (if no leak detected here), recharge to spec, and add leak trace dye. The evaporators are a common culprit with the Jeeps. Look for dye trace in the condensate drain.
