will seltec compressor operate on it's side?

Drake57 on Tue July 29, 2008 3:44 PM User is offline

I'd like to convert Infi Q45 to seltec, but the suction/discharge ports need to be at the side rather than the top. Will the compressor operate rotated axially 90 degrees counterclockwise from viewpoint of looking in at clutch, such that ports face the passenger side of vehicle?

And, would the ports be #8 oring at discharge, and #10 o ring at suction?

Thanks, Drake.

Oops same question except now I'm installing Seltec TM15HS on 1985 Jaguar - In this application compressor needs to be rotated axially 90 degrees clockwise as viewed looking straight at clutch so that ports dress horizontally, pointed toward driver side - the compressor mounts on the left hand side of the engine on the jaguar.

Will it operate OK on it's side?

Thanks, Drake.

When making this change, keep in mind the routing of the A/C lines. Keep the lines as straight as possible, do not allow the lines to form a "U" shape. This may allow for lubricant to become 'trapped' and possibly starve the compressor for lubricant.
