cold OT/warm vent

Make: caddy
Model: sts

i had a small leak from the firewall line with the OT connection. put in new o-rings but they felt a little loose. system held vacuum fine. charged and got cold air but 2 days later i have no cooling. compressor is running. the line after the OT is cold but the evap outlet is warm. low charge? shop matched original o-rings but they just don't fell snug when inserting fitting.

Obviously a leak, but might just be somewhere else, UV dye should be in the system, check for leaks everywhere including the connection mentioned. Don't run it long with a low charge though, you can destroy the compressor and wind up replacing a lot more..Hope this helps..

PS: there are a lot of O rings out there, check with for a vehicle specific O ring set if you can't find one right away..And check the front of the compressor for a possible shaft seal leak..

A '96 Caddy is highly suspect for compressor body o-ring leaks

The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......
