Vac only draws down to 26- is this ok?

bio-me on Thu July 17, 2008 9:29 PM User is offline

Year: 87
Make: ford
Model: f250
Engine Size: 6.9
Refrigerant Type: 134a

The only vac pump I can borrow only draws down to 26mm hg. I know 29 is best, but will this work?
Ambient is 100F here. Is seems to be calibrated, but I'll double check it.
I just converted to134a and replaced the condensor.
I'm trying to wrap this project up tonight.thanks, Mike

That's not enough to boil/vaporize the water. At 26"Hg, water boils at 126*.

I couldn't read the zero because it was a scratched loaner gauge set and the zero area was a black box from 2 psi to 2mm hg vac. Ambient was 100F and elevation was 100or so '. After recalibrating it the vac read 29.
My final numbers were 25 psi low, 176 high @ 81F, with nice cold vent.
